Guoan Bao, is entitled as a national-level artist. He is also the deputy to the People’s Congress in Qinghai Province, a member and a standing committee of CPPCC in Xining city, amember of ChineseArtistsAssociation, a member ofChinese List Calligrapher Association, a standing director ofChinaYouthCalligraphersAssociation, the vice president of People’s Artists Association, the curator of Beijing Bao’s Calligraphy Gallery, thehonorary curator of Shanghai Bao’s Calligraphy Gallery, the president of Sanjiangyuan Art gallery in Qinghai, the vice president of Xining Calligraphers Association, an academician of Paintings and Calligraphy Gallery ofChina Democratic League, a council member of China’s National Chamber of Antique Commerce, the vice president of Qinghai Collectors Association, the Exc-president of Qinghai Stone Culture Seminar, the distinguished curator of Shengshihuazu Paintings and Calligraphy Gallery in Beijing, a professional representative ofEducation, Science, Culture and Health Committee of People’s Congress of Qinghai, a member of Qinghai Youth Committee, a council member of Qinghai Calligrahers Association and etc. In 2009 and 2010, he was honored as the promotion ambassador of public welfare program of China.

The meeting with Mr. Bao was arranged in the exhibition hall of Xiamen Hanhuang Culture. The dialogue was referred to the establishment of Bao’s Calligraphy Gallery in Xiamen and Mr. Bao was happy and forthright to the occasion, releasing the same feeling of his calligraphy style. When he completed the live creation, he was straight up about the desire to practice more than 7 hoursevery day. As we can see, he shows high respect to calligraphy and extreme sincerity to calligraphy art.Such spirit and success is hardly seen fromprofessional calligraphers in the field. I believe that the influence of calligraphy art handed down through the three generations in his family would definitely be carried on by Mr. Bao.
The Work of Live Creation by Guoan Bao
Guoan Bao isparticularly proficient in the art of running scripts to produce magnificent and elegantatmosphere, benefiting from the severe training and accumulation as well as the influence for ages from the master’sgrandfather and father. Family History:
The first generation of Bao’s Calligraphy, Shouzhong Bao (1889-1944), the grandfather of Guoan Bao, was a successful candidate in imperial examinations at provincial level in the Qing dynasty as well as a well-known calligrapher at that time. His calligraphy enjoys a reputation of“righteous and integrity” by the later generations until today.
The second generation of Bao’s Calligraphy, Changlu Bao justpassed away a few years ago at his age of 94. He was a gifted student inhistory and literature department of National Central University.Under the influence of Master Xu Beihong, he practiced calligraphy and taken it asan ultimate pleasure, creating a flexible and intelligent style against the traditional calligraphy techniques. His works are featured with imposing, primitive, elegant and bookish style.
The third generation of Bao’s Calligraphy, Guoan Bao, started to learn calligraphy under the influence of his father when he was six. He had been worked in geological prospecting bureau of Qinghai Province.Havinggraduated from thecorrespondent college of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy, he found a painting and calligraphy studio in 1992 and transferred his career to be a professional calligrapher.
